Luxury residential or commercial projects need the best custom elevator designs. However, one of the problems that owners of luxury buildings are faced with is the inconsistency in the design of the elevator with other key features throughout the project.
Many architects include numerous luxury features within the design of a luxury home and often, when it comes to the design of the elevator, the design pales in comparison with all of the other unique and glamorous surroundings.
We have visited many high-end buildings where the owner’s requests is to have a luxurious, larger size all-glass cab with a glass ceiling to be installed right in the middle of the room. Unfortunately, when we look at the drawings, we find that the designed elevator(s) is considered as a very small home lift, prohibiting us from manufacturing the desired elevator that the customer has in mind.
Therefore, we are left with limited options, such as a small partial glass cab or possibly a cab without glass, that by no means matches with the other features within the project. One factor that contributes to this happening, takes place in the initial design of the foundation. For example, the pit is not deep enough to accommodate our exclusive “Galaxy” under-platform door operator, giving the cab a beautifully clean aesthetic design, no bulky equipment above the cab, only a flush, gorgeous glass ceiling.
For this feature, we need at least a 30″ to 48″ pit depth where all the automatic door operating equipment can be hidden beneath the platform. It makes much more sense to have automatic doors in the elevator instead of manual doors when the rest of the home or building has numerous top-of-the-line features in every corner. For this reason, we would like to mention some of the best elevator designs that architects could consider in their design for a high-end building or a luxury residence.
Round glass elevator – One of the best elevator designs is the aesthetically appealing design of a perfectly round glass elevator with curved doors, making it the most desirable design to place between stairways. A very special feature, exclusive to Roys Rise luxury elevators is our under-platform door operator, “Galaxy”. Hidden underneath the shaft, our beautiful door design allows for the glass ceiling to be flush, without any obstructions, and the elevator can receive all the natural light from the surroundings. This type of elevator is a great solution to design between curved stairways.
Square full glass elevator – A full laminated safety glass square cab with glass ceiling, floor and automatic glass doors, is an excellent choice for luxury projects. Numerous selections of glass to choose from such as low-iron, colored glass and textures can be used together with polished stainless steel or bronze framing along with Swarovski crystal lights inside the glass ceiling and glass floor. Many modern designs featuring glass and other shiny materials are the perfect combination with our modern square glass luxury elevators.
Special designed elevator – Our award-winning elevators are unique and designed specifically according to the needs of the customer. Architects and designers may have a dream design in mind yet may not be confident enough to give a role to the elevator as they do to another aesthetic part of their design. We would like to assure them to freely design whatever they imagine suitable for the other parts of the building. When the size and shape of the elevator or its movement is completely creative and never been designed before, we can make it. Our talented and capable designers and engineers always welcome these kinds of challenges as their next great award-winning mission. In addition to manufacturing of custom residential elevators we also design and manufacture unique commercial glass elevators such as the Vessel at Hudson Yards in New York and the freight elevator at the LACMA Museum in Los Angeles that are a few examples of our special designed one of a kind custom luxury elevators.
Birdcage elevator (Wrought Iron elevator) – Custom-designed with a modern transformation to the authentic vintage style lifts from the past, transforming elevator design for a new era. Birdcage elevators exemplify a part of a vintage legacy dating back to the turn of the 20th century. The antique elements such as the ornamental steel frame, open latticework, and the domelike shaped car tops are all design combinations that reflect on an era when elevators were on the rise to becoming not only a transportation necessity of the future but the main feature of artistic design adding value and leaving a lasting impression on the passengers.
Antique elevator – Retaining all the charm of a duplicate elevator of the last century and at the same time, fully loaded with modern-day safety features and lift equipment.Fast forward to the 21st century, and the elevator lift technology that is available today has transformed elevator design. Now it is possible to have the best of both worlds so to say. A vintage lift maintaining a unique sense of history transporting you back in time can now be combined with modern lift equipment, ensuring a smooth ride to the top with all the latest in bells and whistles. All our vintage lifts are custom designed, made with the highest quality of materials, superior ornamentals, and handcrafted precision to include all the vintage-inspired details that create the feeling of elegance that is synonymous with homes and buildings of the past.
Many luxury projects are beautifully designed in absolutely every area of the project. The question may come up, “What if a luxury elevator is designed in the middle of the house, between two huge luxury symmetry stairways?” Just suppose for a moment that when entering the main entrance of a building, you find a luxury full glass elevator, comparable to a luxury car in the middle of the room. Right in the center, in between the luxury stairways and beautiful interior design, sits this spectacular masterpiece of an elevator that amplifies the entire view of luxury. If this were the case, you would not have to hide the elevator in a corner with a fully enclosed shaft, it is now rightfully at the center-stage.
There should defiantly be a difference between the elevator of a multi-million- dollar luxury home and a small home that needs an elevator for two stops with only a two-person capacity. In these residential projects, some of the builders or architects search for a residential elevator installer that has a standard product and the drawings of their elevator are used for the initial design. These elevator plans are usually used for a small house with very inexpensive material and are not appropriate for a multi-million-dollar project that needs high-class products. Unlike home lifts that are very slow and small, luxury homes with many huge and unique features such as great furniture, a modern kitchen design, etc., the elevator should also be distinctive. If the elevator shaft and pit size that is considered for the elevator is large enough, then one of those best elevator designs will be possible for us to create as a luxury elevator manufacturer.
The elevator type such as inground hydraulics or machine room less gearless will help the designer with their goals. For some designers, the beauty of the features is the most important goal when for others, a low energy usage building system is the priority. As an example, with an in-ground hydraulic jack, you could omit any obstacle in the shaft and with and under platform door operator you won’t see anything on top of the cab which makes the elevator even more stunning. With a gearless system, you can reduce energy usage to a large extent. We will work with you to choose the type of luxury elevator according to your vision.
Luxury buildings need luxury features within the elevator. In order to create the best elevator designs, we have applied a wide range of luxury features in our products to ensure that the elevator is equipped with the finest bells and whistles, a quality that is beyond a standard lift. Large laminated safety glass as walls in the elevator combined with patterned or colored stainless steel, using Swarovski crystal lights inside the glass ceiling, full glass floor with stunning lighting and special designs of pictures inside the glass walls or digital mirrors are all examples of some features with which you could turn the elevator into the main feature of your home.
